Hello, I’m Katie Bickford, Auburn’s School Director. I have spent more than a decade working in early childhood education, and nothing brings me more joy than watching children grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence. Supporting young learners during these foundational years is both a privilege and a responsibility that I hold close to my heart.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of early learning environments, which has deepened my understanding of how children learn best. I believe that early childhood is a time of incredible discovery. Each day presents opportunities for children to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and build meaningful relationships. It is inspiring to witness the moment a child masters a new skill, finds their voice, or takes pride in accomplishing something independently. These milestones, both big and small, are what make this work so meaningful.
My focus this year is to continue building a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for every child and family we serve. A strong school community begins with trust, open communication, and shared goals. I am committed to fostering partnerships with families, recognizing that parents and caregivers are a child’s first and most important teachers. By working together, we can create consistent, supportive experiences that help children feel secure and confident both at school and at home.
I also believe that strong classrooms start with strong teachers. Our educators are at the heart of everything we do, and their dedication, creativity, and compassion shape each child’s daily experience. That is why I am committed to providing ongoing training, coaching, and support to help our teachers grow professionally and feel empowered in their roles. When teachers feel confident and supported, they are better equipped to create engaging learning environments where children thrive.
We strive to create classrooms that encourage exploration, hands-on learning, and social-emotional development. We value play as a powerful tool for learning and ensure that children have opportunities to collaborate, communicate, and develop problem-solving skills. By intentionally implementing our curriculum and classroom spaces, we promote independence while also guiding children in building kindness, empathy, and resilience.
As School Director, my goal is to lead with integrity, compassion, and a clear vision for excellence. I am proud to serve our center and look forward to another year of growth, discovery, and meaningful connections. Together, we will continue creating a place where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn each day.
